NaNoWriMo!

it's November! That means it's NaNoWriMo!

National Novel Writing Month is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to novel writing. Participants begin writing November 1. The goal is to write a 175-page (50,000-word) novel by midnight, November 30.

Valuing enthusiasm and perseverance over painstaking craft, NaNoWriMo is a novel-writing program for everyone who has thought fleetingly about writing a novel but has been scared away by the time and effort involved.

Because of the limited writing window, the ONLY thing that matters in NaNoWriMo is output. It's all about quantity, not quality. The kamikaze approach forces you to lower your expectations, take risks, and write on the fly. read more...

I would love to participate, but I am not a writer. I mean, don't get me wrong-- I write. A lot. I've been writing in a journal since i was a sophomore in high school. And before that, my best friend, O, and I used to write prolific letters to one another. I'm talking pages upon pages. This on top of living down the block and seeing each other all day, everyday at school. So, i do like to write. I'm just not confident in my story telling abilities (yet!)

I give kudos to whoever is participating. Seriously. I'm trying to put together a simple little e-book, and it's kicking my butt. If you are participating this year, please let us know so we can provide some extra support!

As I read the description of what NaNoWriMo is, and who it's for, I realize that I would actually benefit from this sort of program. hmmm... maybe next year?
