I'm in love all over again!
You guys! I think I am in love.
I rented the Sony NEX-7 mirror less micro 4/3 camera this weekend and have fallen in love with it. Hopelessly. Completely. It's so much thinner and lighter than my canon 5d mark II, and seemingly faster. Did I mention lighter? Soooo much lighter... Carrying the Sony around and using it was a DREAM, so light, so easy... I loved the tilt screen LCD screen too! Looking thru the viewfinder on that camera was pretty terrible though, everything was weird and grainy (I supposed this is due to the fact that the camera is mirror less?) the LCD screen took some time to get used to, but man, it was nice! Large, bright, easy to compose shots, and it tilts out! No more holding the camera up and hoping I'm able to catch the details I want (this is great for those of us who are vertically challenged!)
Another thing I loved about this camera? It has really convenient and easy to adjust dials to change settings on the fly (and because you're looking at the LCD screen, you can see, almost in real time, what's happening.) And lastly, this is pretty important to me, there are so many more points of focus you can select rather than just the 9 that the Mark II has! Did I mention that it was so much lighter? **sigh**
Do I want this camera? Oh for sure! If money were no object, I would get it in a heartbeat! (hello Amazon Prime, next day shipping!) But.... it is a little on the pricey side right now (about $1,200-ish for the camera and the kit lens) so.... I'm going to have to take a pass. However, just so you know, my birthday is coming... ;)
Here are some shots I took with this camera and the kit lens:
So, what do you think of these? (I still can't get over how sharp they are and that the kit lens was able to do this!) If you've got any great ideas how I can convince the hubster that I can't live without this camera, please let me know in the comments section below!
