Spring is in the Air- This week at the Garden

Spring sure seems to be taking it's sweet time getting here this year. We were teased a week or so ago with 70 degree temperatures and it was amazing! Since then, it's been a bit of a roller coaster in terms of weather. Warm-ish one day, cold and snowy the next. Lots of rain, and even thunder snow. There was a day last week where i swear we experienced all four seasons within a few hours!

Spring Fern, Fiddlehead growing

Even though it feels like spring is elusive, I see it. It's happening. Trees and bushes are slowing beginning to bud and their leaves are starting to grow. Teeny plants are beginning to break from beneath the soil and send forth their little green shoots. It's so exciting!

I'm so giddy and excited to see all these new growing things. Winter is so rough for me. Not only because of the darkness (that seems to last forever) but everything is either dead, dormant, or asleep. I know there is beauty in winter, but, most of the time I'm so down and depressed that I don't notice it. All I want to do is eat and sleep. I dream of green growing things.

In order to combat the dark dreariness of winter, I've been going through my vast collection of photos and posting one photo a day on Instagram.  At least this gives me (and you) something pretty to look at and it's a small reminder that spring and green growing things are just around the corner.

This is the time of year I go to the Garden almost every week. I don't want to miss a thing! Here's what was growing this week at the Garden:

Spring blossoms
Gowing Tulips
spring crocuses in bloom
magnolia buds
tulips are starting to grow
spring daffodils

Stay tuned for weekly (or nearly weekly) Garden updates! :)
