I recently jumped on what I think was an incredibly great deal. Crissy Herron, from IndieBizChicks.com, was promoting a blog/website review and I jumped on it (like, within two minutes of receiving the email.)
Let me be honest. You haven't seen a lot of me on the blog, or online. I’ve been in a giant slump and haven’t been feeling the entrepreneurial juices. I haven’t been seeing any traffic, I haven’t had many sales in my etsy shop-- actually, no activity at all-- and became super discouraged. Crissy’s email came through and I jumped at the opportunity for her, a seasoned entrepreneur who helps indie businesses for a living, to look over my website & blog and critique it.
I received her critique as an mp3 and in less than a minute, she mentioned how I don’t have a way to capture emails on my website. I did, on my blog, but not on my main page. D’oh! That’s an easy fix that had never would have thought to do. She also made a very compelling case to capture emails so I will for sure be sending out newsletters more often! She even gave me an idea for blogging that I would have never ever considered (video!) I think that alone was worth the cost. Mind= blown!
Crissy was very matter of fact— there was no sugar coating what I need to do. She totally called me out on my social media habits. I didn’t realize I was being an ad-feed (yikes!) My apologies to any who follow my twitter and Facebook...
She explained about target markets in a way that actually made sense. Again— Mind=Blown! Now, I need to sit down and figure out who my ideal customers are and how to find them and target them. That’s going to take some work, but at least I have a better understanding of what I need to do.
She also told me me to keep going, keep working hard, and to keep pushing through. i need to have tunnel vision and not to worry about what other folks are doing. (Comparison is the worst, isn’t it?) I just need to work hard, post more, have more conversations, and contact people for guest posts-- basically, to get back work!
Crissy’s critique was a real eye opener and a real source of motivation for me. I'm super glad I had the opportunity to have her critique my blog/website. Thanks, Crissy!
