October Stitch Fix Review

Hey friends! I've been a little lax with my stitch fix reviews these past few months. Honestly, I've been really disappointed with them. September's fix was terrible-- I didn't like any thing and I sent it all back right away. The next fix was almost as bad (I did keep one shirt.) I was on the verge of quitting. And then I got my last fix, and boy my stylist, Tillie, hit it out of the park this time! I love almost everything.

Here are the goodies I received:

Stitch Fix Late October Review
Stitch Fix Late October Review 2

1. Fierro Elbow Patch Crew Neck Sweater

I LOVE this sweater! I'm not a fan of pink, but I love the hot pink elbow patches on this sweater. It's so fun! It was definitely a keeper. No doubt about it.

2. Benzer Mixed Material Sweater

Another hit. I love the color, and I love the faux "shirt" that peeks out from the bottom of the sweater. It's super cute.

3. Mallory Ruffle Back Open Cardigan

This is a fun cardigan! It fits well, I like the grey color, and the ruffle back detail is really fun. Another keeper.

4. Ricardo Pleat Detail Sleeveless Silk Blouse

This was the only piece I was a little lukewarm about. It's a little extra flowy, but I think it still looks okay. I definitely need to wear a sweater over this blouse (not a fan of bare arms.) My fix would have more expensive if I sent it back, so, I kept it.

5. Henry Birds on Branch Infinity Scarf

I. LOVE. THIS. SCARF. I've worn it nearly every day (If not at work, then at home!) I LOVE the color (orange! YAY!) and I ADORE the pattern (birds! YAY!) This is my first infinity scarf. I think I'm hooked!

You guys,  I've fallen back in love with Stitch Fix! I admit, it was rocky there for a few months, but, I'm glad I stuck with them. They listened to me and pulled through. Thank you! (Now I can't wait for my next fix!)

My Favorite Things- Handmade Soaps from Wood Folk Soap

Little known fact about me: I love handmade soaps. I mean, I looooooooooooooove them.  To say that I'm a little bit addicted is an understatement. I buy them from etsy all. the. time. They are the number one type of item I purchase (all you handmade soap makers out there, I'm looking for you!)

The other day I was searching for soaps (um, I mean, working...yeah, working...) and I happened upon this shop, Wood Folk Soaps. What drew me to click on their shop was their photography & packaging. I'm not going to lie-- You could have the best soap on the planet, but if your photos look like crap, I'm not going to click on your shop. I know that's pretty harsh, but I can't help it. I'm a girl who loves pretty photography (of course!) and packaging!!! I loved Wood Folk's simple photos that highlighted their soaps, and I love the simple font/design of their wrappers. They also had interesting scents (Earl Grey!) and natural ingredients-- all of which are super important to me as well. I purchased three soaps-- Ginger & Sugar, Green Tea & Flax, and Earl Grey & Almond.

I got them in the mail yesterday-- first of all-- whoa! Super quick shipping! They arrived within a week! Secondly, their packaging was so cute! I LOVE the handwritten note that they included! (it's the little things, friends!)

yay! my soaps arrived! happy mail day to me!

I'm a sucker for pretty packaging!

I can't wait to try these out!

I can't wait to try these out!

You guys, these soaps smell soooooooo good! Not a heavy fake perfumy smell at all. These were nice and light and natural. I ran upstairs with the Ginger & Sugar soap (after I photographed the soaps, of course) and washed my hands right away! What a great feeling soap! I'm soooo glad I got these and I can't wait to try each of them!

My first Stitch Fix (a review)

So, if you know me in real life, you know that I need some serious help when it comes to fashion. My father-in-law has jokingly said that he's going to call and see if he can get me on "What Not to Wear."  (He really means that in the most kind way.) I wear the same thing (or slight variations) all. the. time. Here's my 7 day a week wardrobe: Jeans, sweater or t-shirt and cardigan to cover my arms, and gym shoes. I never wear shorts. Like, seriously, never. And I never wear skirts. I will only wear a dress if I go to a wedding (and yes, I tried to get out of wearing a dress for my own wedding!)  Yeah, I need a little help. I have the hardest time picking out clothes that are age appropriate and flattering. I'm not a size 2, i have some...  extra fluff... and I'm short, so I feel that nothing ever looks good one me.

A few months ago I decided that I needed an intervention of sorts. I've been hearing a lot of positive things about Stitch Fix and I've seen a lot of cute wardrobe pieces on Pinterest and blogs. Everyone seems pretty happy with this service.  I'm a fan of not having go to the mall to shop.  If I'm going to try on clothes and cry, I'd rather do it from the comfort of home, ya know? (Did I mention that I might also have some body image issues?)  I also like that the stylist gurus often seem to send clothes that you might normally try on. That's a bonus. I tend to gravitate to the same things in the same colors. A girl can only have so many black, grey, and green shirts. Also, I know it's pretty silly, but I really like the little idea cards that they include to show you two different styling possibilities for the pieces they send.

So...I signed up!

I got my first Fix this week!  No, I didn't take photos of me wearing the pieces. We're not there yet, internet.

Here's what my stylist guru (Tonh) sent me:

Stitch Fix Review 1- Ashford Cross-Front Slub Knit Shirt

I loved this shirt when I took it out of the box. However, it looked AWFUL on me when I tried it on.  The way that the fabric crisscrosses in the front center was not flattering to a girl with extra belly fluff, know what I mean? So, I sent this back. *sad face*

Stitch Fix Review 1- Delmont Lace Chambray Shirt

This Chambray shirt was a HUGE miss. I took it out of the box and hated it immediately. It seriously reminded me of something a mom in the 80's would have worn. I know I'm old, but... no. I tried it on, and I hated it even more. Definitely sent this sucker back.

Stitch Fix Review 1- Bowie Solid Dolman Sleeve Top

When I took out this top, I wasn't a fan of the color (it's PINK!) and not sure about the dolman sleeve style looking good on my short and fluffy frame. I tried it on and fell in love. Hard. It looked great on me! This is for sure an example of something I would have never ever tried on in a store. This was a keeper!!

Stitch Fix Review 1- Suzie Stripe & Dot Knit Shirt

I thought this shirt was fun when I took it out of the box. Stripes and little dots? Definitely different. I tried it on and I just didn't like it. I felt that the black and white stripes being that wide and horizontal looked like a convict uniform. I sent it back.

Stitch Fix Review 1- Gabe Striped Maxi Skirt

First of all, when I opened the box and found a skirt in there, I was pretty disappointed. I don't wear skirts. I tried it on, prepared to hate it, but... it looked cute and was fun.. I kinda liked it. Not enough to keep it, though. I didn't care for the color and I just didn't have anything in my closet that would work with this. Yet. Receiving and keeping a different maxi skirt might not be out of the realm of possibility in the future... (did I just hear you gasp?)

I really enjoyed this first fix (with the exception of 80's mom-style denim shirt) and I'm definitely looking forward to my second one (not until July! Ugh!)
