My Favorite Friday Finds- Chicago Artists

Happy Friday, friends!!!
This week, I wanted to showcase artists that are local to Chicago. I am a huge fan of buying local and I'm excited that Chicago has sooooo many great artists. I had a tough time trying to keep my list to just nine items/artists. Are you thinking what I'm thinking? Why, yes, I will do another Friday Finds featuring more Chicagoland artists! I'm glad we're on the same page!

Here are just a few of my favorites:

My Friday Favorite Finds- Chicago Artists

1. Pink Butterfly Necklace

2. Meterbox Terrarium

3. Make it Happen Wood Box Art Print

4. Oatmeal Honey Soap

5. Rustic Green Ceramic Tea Set

6. Peacock Pillow

7. Felt Cactus Plant

8. Designer Light Green Turquoise Ring

9. Peach Floral Infinity Scarf with Lace

Aren't these all great? The meterbox terrarium is a really fun twist on the traditional terrarium. I love the Make it Happen Wood Box Print... I could really use the scarf... (Just so you know, my birthday is in September and I would be thrilled to receive any and all of these items...)

I did pick up the Oatmeal and Honey soap from Good & Honest earlier this week and it's awesome. (I also picked up the Pink Grapefruit and Orange Clove soaps!) Not only did I receive excellent customer service, incredibly fast shipping, and great packaging, but all the soaps smell sooooo nice and lathers really well. I love it! If you love handmade soap, you have to check out this shop.

Do you have a favorite from this list? Or maybe you know another artist from Chicago (or the 'burbs) that is awesome-- let me know in the comments section below! I love hearing about new artists!

My third Stitch Fix (August Review)

Oh Happy Day! I received my third Stitch Fix in the mail this weekend! Another Fix, another batch of clothes/accessories that I love and want to keep!

1. Tatiana Graphic Print Button Front Blouse

I LOVE this blouse! I love the color, I love the pattern, I love the fit. It is perfect! Loose and flowy without being frumpy. It's perfect with a little tank/cami underneath and it looks great with jeans. This is definitely a keeper!!

EDIT 8/2015: This blouse has been in my closet/wardrobe rotation for a year now. EVERY time I wear it, I get compliments! This has been my most favorite item that I've received from Stich Fix. (Closely followed by the Henry Birds on Branch Infinity Scarf)

2. Tina Striped Open Cardigan

I'm on the fence about this one. I like the stripes, I like the color, I like the lightweight knit fabric... The style of sweater is a little out of my comfort zone. G said it was weird (well, he's a guy and has no fashion sense!) I took a pic and showed my mom and she really liked it on me. I may keep it just because it's a little different and pretty versatile.

3. Jillian Crochet Detail Tank

Another winner from my stylist! I love this tank top. It's a great color and I love the crochet detail on the back. Most of all-- I love the fit! Another flowy top to hide my fluff!!!!

4. Gabbiey Sleeveless Maxi Dress

Oh... this dress... well, it made me cry. A lot. And swear off food (yeah, that lasted until dinner time...)  I put it on and like what I saw from about the boobs upward, it was what was below the boobs that made me cry. Even with shape wear like my stylist suggested, this dress looked terrible on me. Well, I'm sure G would have loved it on me, but I hated it and felt terrible in it.  I don't think I'm ready for a maxi dress this year. :(  If you are a skinny gal, this dress would look amazing on you. Girls like me with extra fluffy middles... not so much. I'm sending this back for sure.

5. Lynx Layered Beaded Necklace

This necklace is pretty and I love the colors, but I'm not in love with the necklace. My stylist really did pay attention to my profile-- I mentioned that I'm allergic to gold so she made sure there wasn't any gold in this necklace. How sweet! I am, however, going to send this necklace back. I'm going to hold out for one that I LOVE.

I love the fact that I'm beginning to have "grown up clothes" in my closet finally (sorry Old Navy...) and that the few items I've kept from Stitch Fix have become my new favorites and my new "go-to" pieces when I want to look nice(r).

I'm looking forward to my next fix!

My second Stitch Fix (a review)

You guys, can I just tell you how much I love Stitch Fix? Seriously! I received my second fix in the mail on Friday!!! **squee!!** I excitedly opened it up and I was not disappointed! This fix was even better than the first! I wanted soooooo much to keep everything in the box!

So, here's what my stylist (Lauren) sent:

Number 1: Eames Geo Print Gathered Waist Shirt

Stitch Fix- Eams Geo Print Gathered Waist Knit Shirt

I LOVE this shirt! It has a really fun pattern, it's a great color, and it hides all my fluffy bits! This is totally a keeper!!!

Number 2: Blake Side Ruched V-Neck Knit Shirt

Stitch Fix- Blake Side Ruched V-Neck Shirt

I took this shirt out of the box and I LOVED the color, and I LOVED the ruched style. However, I did not love how this shirt clung to my fluffy tummy as if to accentuate it. **sad face** This one has to go back.

Number 3: Emmett Boyfriend Jean

I'm usually a bootleg jean kinda girl and lets leave it at that. The boyfriend jean did nothing to help flatter my frame at all (truthfully, it reminded me a little bit of skinny jeans because the legs were so narrow and tapered...)  Because it sits lower on my waist, it bought out my fluffy muffin top that I try so desperately to hide. This one goes back.

Number 4: Cheli Striped Maxi Dress

Stitch Fix- Cheli Striped Maxi Dress

After the maxi skirt from the last fix, I was secretly (super secretly) hoping that I would get another one. I was kinda excited when I opened the box and saw this dress (so was the husby!) I tried it on and while the husby liked it, I didn't like how I looked in it. I thought that it was too... form fitting, and that it accentuated my tummy fluff too much. Sadly, this one goes back too. I don't think I'm ready for maxi dresses yet... **sad face**

Number 5: Clarita Messenger Bag

Stitch Fix- Clarita Messenger Bag

My stylist did a great job with this one. I mentioned in my profile that I HATE purses (but I love shoes? go figure!) but I was in the market for a new messenger bag as the one I've been carrying around for 7 or 8 years is on it's last leg. I like this bag. A lot. It's beautiful, well made, and is really comfy to wear. I'm on the fence about this one. I don't know if I'm ready for a "grown up" bag yet.... I've got one more day to decide!

What do you think? Should I keep the grown up (purse like!) messenger bag? Send it back since I'm not exactly 100% in love with it?

This fix has renewed my commitment to getting in shape... well... at least taming my fluffy bits. I would have kept everything in this fix if I wasn't so fluffy. Back to no sugar and less grains. and more walking.
