Wednesday Color Inspiration- Succulent

I'm so in love with succulents and I love this shot! This was from one of my many many (many!) trips to the Chicago Botanic Garden. I can't wait to paint this little guy-- I'm hoping I'll get a chance to at least start it this weekend.

Wednesday Color Inspiration- Succulent

If you love this shot as much as I do, you can pick up your own print. I've added it to my etsy shop (yes, I still have my etsy shop!) as part of my new "Big Bloom" series.  You can select the size you want, from 5x7 all the way to 16x20. If you need something larger, or on a canvas (don't worry-- I will be adding those options soon!) Just email or convo me and let me know!

Oh, do me a favor (please!) and check out the rest of my Big Bloom series!

Wednesday Color Inspiration- Desert

This is my most favorite spot that I've ever had the chance to visit. I mean, Hawaii was beautiful and very fun, and Oregon is where my peoples are  (you know, the crafty folk knitting at the bus stop.) But National Monument Valley on the Arizona/Utah border was incredible and absolutely breathtaking. Even the Grand Canyon wasn't as awesome as this place (it comes in a close second though...)

Of course I would visit Arizona and it would rain nearly every day we were there. (360 days of sun and the five days of rain happen when I'm there on vacation.) There were rainclouds in the distance and we got out of the park just before the roads started to flood and become impassible. And yes, it does get so cold that the roads turn crazy icy-- remind me to tell you about my white knuckle ride back to phoenix! (Thank God I wasn't driving!)

I can't wait for this weekend to start painting this!

Wednesday Color Inspiration- Jellies

This shot was taken at the Monterey Bay Aquarium when we were in California last September. What a fun aquarium. ENORMOUS!!! I just wish we had more time to explore it. We were parked on the street and only had an hour on the parking meter. The jellyfish section was my favorite, and this is one of my favorite shots (I love the orange and blue combo!)

I can't wait to try painting this photo!

Wednesday Inspiration- Tulip

Hello! We made it halfway through another week! You know that old adage. "April showers bring May flowers", well, I suppose after all the rain we've had this month, we'll have a spectacular showing of flowers in May! Tulips are just one of my favorite spring flowers and this weeks Wednesday Inspiration is all about the Tulip!

Wednesday Inspiration- Sloths

Happy Wednesday! If ever we need a break and some lighthearted cuteness, this is the week. I wanted to share with you one of my recent obsessions-- Sloths! It all stated when a friend stumbled me this sloth blog. I was hooked. I spent hours and hours watching sloth videos on YouTube and researching if they allow sloths as pets in Hoffman Estates...(sadly, I don't think they do)

Here are my sloth finds from etsy. Just so you know, my birthday is in September and I would love to receive any of these items. Now you know.

Not quite convinced about the cuteness that is the sloth? Check out this video of sloths in a bucket (i hear it's their favorite way to travel...)

(wait, what does it say about me that one of my other favorite things are snails?)

Wednesday Inspiration- Spring Fever

I am SERIOUSLY tired of winter. Seriously. I've been scouring etsy for pretty spring things to decorate my house, or to wear (I'm LOVING the spring scarf from AnnikaLikes since it's still so chilly here!) and I've found some really great items! I hope you enjoy!

Wednesday Inspirations are back!

Hello Wednesday! This mid-week has been a little more challenging than usual since daylight savings time this past weekend. For some reason, my body is CONVINCED that i now wake up at 4am and by the time noon rolls around, I'm nearly asleep at my desk!

For this mid-week hump buster I thought I would get in the St. Patrick's Day spirit and present some super fun shamrock/green/irish finds from etsy. Enjoy!
